Presentation :
The Perigord is known as the Cradle of humanity...
The Perigord contains 40,000 years of preserved history and prehistory. A unique legacy left by our ancestors. Decorated or carved caves, including the most famous and world-renowned Lascaux Cave. Then later on, many chateaus, such as Beynac, Castelnaud, Hautefort etc. Medieval villages and country houses built during the Hundred Years War, which are remarkably preserved, of which Sarlat is the most prestigious.
Perigord is also home to a magnificent, vibrant natural setting, breathtaking landscapes, the art of living well, and many cultural and festive activities. It's best explored on foot, horseback or by canoe on the Vezere or Dordogne, sublime rivers bordered by forests and picturesque villages. It can also be discovered by walking, hiking, and cycling, or through the many other outdoor activities available.
Perigord is a terroir and has an exceptional dining culture. Confit, duck breast, porcini mushrooms, truffles, and foie gras are the treasures of a traditional cuisine, richly stocked with products from our farms and woods.
